Anne's Personal Story as a Cancer SurvivorA few years ago, when a scientific study proved that people with metastatic cancer who participated in Support Groups lived nearly twice as long as people who didn't, the general population was dumbfounded. It "made no sense" from a scientific perspective. But for those of us who have corresponded with others who've faced a cancer diagnosis and obtained solace and comfort, it came as little surprise. I believe that the Survivors Bulletin Board, which I began using in 1993, contributed as much to regaining my health as my standard therapies did. I could virtually say anything and receive unconditional caring and support. It's been one of the "silver linings" within the cloud of cancer. I've made friends who travel from all parts of the country to get together for our Annual Survivors Reunion, and who I can call to say hello when I'm in need of hearing a friendly voice. Most of all, it's been a constant in a life too full of change. Anne L. in Utah
