Don's Personal Story as a Cancer SurvivorFor all too many years, I was one of those people so wrapped up in MAKING a life, that I often failed to take the time to HAVE a life. My wife had reminded me of this many times, but her comments never really sank in until 1993. That was when I was diagnosed with Colon Cancer at age 45. This got my attention more than an earlier experience with Bladder Cancer I had at age 38. Like Jim, Anne, and so many others, I have refused to let the cancer control my life. Yet, I have allowed it to serve as a reminder of just how precious each moment can be - if we only allow the experience to be fully appreciated. The group that has joined here plays many roles. They support each other when the need arises, and they share their daily joys. No matter what, LIFE IS PRECIOUS, and it's even more so when it can be shared with others you love. This group has enlarged my own sphere of loved ones. By the way, I STILL have a tendency to get wrapped up in making a life. But I definitely find time now for LIVING it as well. Don B. in Texas USA
